A bit about me

A bit about me

I am a sports physiotherapist and I am passionate about the benefits of movement for both mental and physical health. I am based in Cornwall, UK.

I qualified with a BSc (hons) in Physiotherapy at the University of Birmingham in 2002, and after a few years working as a rotational physiotherapist within the NHS at Oxford University Hospitals, decided to specialise in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy. I gained distinction in a Masters in Advanced Sports Physiotherapy at University College London in 2007, passing the MACP exams to become a member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP).

I went on to work with GB rowing, and was physiotherapist to the Oxford University Boat Club for 10 years whilst also setting up my own private practice, Oxford Sports Physio & Pilates. At the time I was rowing full-time myself, trialing for the GB rowing team. I also worked part-time in the NHS. I spent many years doing weight training and developed an interest in strength and conditioning for performance, prevention and recovery from injury.

Personal experience with various injuries over the years has given me insight which I use on a daily basis with patients whether for return to elite sport or everyday life.

After giving up rowing in 2012, I turned to triathlon and competed in the GB age-group triathlon team at the triathlon World Championships in Auckland in 2012 (coming 9th my age-group 30-34 sprint distance) and at London 2013 coming 10th (AG30-34 Olympic distance) whilst also cycling competitively with Zappi's women’s cycling team. After a break to have children in 2015 I moved to longer distances, winning my age-group at Ironman Wales in 2018 and qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Kona in 2019.

As a parent of two young children, I found I didn't have time for triathlon training and having moved to Cornwall in 2019, my most recent passion for trail running, mostly on the south west coast path or exploring trails and mountains in other parts of the world.
